Interesting... I'd never heard of a Third Place, so thank you! I don't work, and I don't really crave IRL interactions. The blogging community has definitely given me a great tribe! I've "met" some absolutely fantastic people, even though I've never spoken to any of them😂
Generally, I think that having a support network that is a neutral environment is a huge bonus for us!
Well, knowing you have your hands full with everything in your life right now I can appreciate the lack of desire to find a third place... I felt that way for a long time, but lately, as the kids are growing and on the verge of crossing the threshold of life on their own, I'm thinking maybe I need to explore the outside world a little more. :) Thank you for reading, Angie!
Never heard of a Third Place. Not sure that I would choose a Third Place especially if there were other people. 😆 I am a huge introvert so I seek solitude behind my wheel or in my garden.
So interesting! I always learn a lot with your posts. I don't really have a lot of time for a third place, with my fulltime job and writing, but we have a small tertulia of Cubans here in Hobbs who meet every other Friday or so to have coffee and gossip a bit. Not sure if it qualified as a third place as we keep it quite private.
I think you have the best of both world. Your apartment is your place where you can foster the life on your own terms you may have striven for during earlier times, but it wasn't possible then. Now, when opportunity presents to chat with others in common areas close by, you do so. I absolutely agree that the lawn space outside of the building counts, or the walks you take.
The blogging tribe we both belong to is also my virtual Third Place. Love the people I met there!

Our mutual blogging space is a good Third Place, and yes, it's nice to be in each others. :)
